As Live Production - Production Managment

What is production managment? 

Well, production managment is very important we have to focus on organisation and be a team. We ahve to be aware of castig and talen ensuring all content is on schedule and appropriate for all time slots. 

Production managers have to take care of;
  1. Leading a prodcutin team
  2. Keeping a schedule on top
  3. Organising a budget 
  4. Project managment
  5. Call sheets
  6. Keeping the latest technology and tech specs
  7. Risk Assesments 
  8. Noting all stages of the production
  9. Health and Safety
  10. Managing all cast and crew
There could also be production mistakes such as;
  1. Not knowing the production
  2. Not being a team player
  3. Being a know it all
  4. Not delegating
  5. Not sharing key information
  6. Being on your phone 
  7. Not caring what others do
  8. Leaving the production to the last minute
  9. Working in an unsafe enviroment
  10. Swearing on set
We have to follow the productions do's and dont's;
  1. Sticking to the schedule
  2. Call sheets to be followed
  3. Release forms to be made
  4. Checking the budget
  5. Risk assesments to be signed off
  6. Making sure all techs have been checked
  7. Communication between the team
  8. Floor and lighting plans to be followed
  9. Listening to the producers and directors
  10. Following directions
What we have to follow if we are filming on location;
  1. Making sure no sound issues occur
  2. Checking the weather beforehand
  3. Wifi and power access for tech
  4. Access for others 
  5. Lighting to be checked
  6. Availability at the location
  7. Permissions 
  8. Health and Safety
  9. Hi-Viz jackets to be worn
  10. Public to be considered
Sometimes we have to film abroad depending on the production;
  1. Booking flights.trains in advance 
  2. Organising visas/permists for individuals
  3. Contacing IFA if BBC, contact local embassy for advice
  4. Making most of each and every day
  5. Booking in advance and making sure the weather is good
  6. Baggage to be safe and equipped 
  7. Not forgetting key equipment and information
  8. Always having someone to look after equipment and baggage
  9. Have enough money to spare in case of emergencies
  10. Have first aid on hand or contact details to nearest ER
Studio Hire information;
  1. Dry Hire - no cew or set provided 
  2. Wet Hire - basic set crew is provided
  3. High costs for power and other necessities
  4. Sticking to allocated time schedules / cost's will increase
  5. It's expensive especially if you don't keep onto schedule
  6. 35p per Kwh 
  7. What crew is included? Do we need everyone? 
  8. Note down all restrictions and T&C's 
  9. Many studios will not let set be delivered at night
  10. Who is involved?
Budgets are always crucial, this includes;
  1. Studio costs
  2. Talent
  3. Casting
  4. Staff
  5. Post Production
  6. Props
  7. Locations
  8. Transport
  9. Scenery
  10. Food 
We always need to solve problems and issues;
  1. Staying calm under pressure 
  2. Always negotiate if there is a problem
  3. Be team players at all times
  4. Diplomatic
  5. Never argue on set
