As Live Production - Studio Entertainment Programme - 'Friends'

Friends is a As Live Studio sitcom made up of 10 whole series throughout the years. It originally started back in 1994 and finished in 2004 where it became a sucessfull hit. The show is American and broadcasted on NBC, it has now been published online to popular streaming services such as Netflic, Hulu, YouTube etc.  



Me and Callum orginally have always focused on friends, and family oriented shows. This is what we orignally wanted to do within our pitch. Friends is about the in debthlive of 6 close friends, they are based in New York, within the show we learn about their love lives, work problems, family issues etc. Since the show has grown on pretty much everyone it had released 10 seasons (10 years) of the lives of all of the friends. Not only does this get the viewer/audience to interact and feel for the character but we enjoy to watch them be happy, sad, succesfull etc.

Every character has a different background and furture to tell.  The way that this show is filmed is very different to 'The Jeremy Kyle Show' it is much more vibrant and uses more than 1 set location. Within the show we see many popular set's such as Monicas apartment, which is very colourful and cheerful. There is Central Perk coffee show where we always see them drink coffee and discuss work and their reletionships. What i find very interesting is that the scene could be going on for a very long time but it wouldn't get boring because something entertaining always happens, i feel like we incorporated this in 'Steal The Syle' we were prepared to be entertaining for the viewers and audience members. I feel like the audience laughing in the background also helps viewers laugh and realise what is actually going on, if someone doesn't understand a joke or a hint the audience laughing engages you to start. Overall the set is always very cheerfull because there is never a dull sad moment within friends, and a set can do so much for the eyes.

I feel like the way that the show is filmed it feels like it's not actually 'fake' it feels real, like they are actual normal people working and hanging out with friends. The show is so relatable to a lot of people and this is what made it so popular in the first place, viewers can relate and feel exactly like the character within the show. I have also eralised when a character laughs or tells a joke they wait for the audience to stop laughing until they carry on with their lines, this makes it feel real/raw.

Friends also use a lot of props to interact with within the show, they all have their own characteristics. Within 'Steal the Style' we also used a lot of props to interact on set, this way it makes it easier for the viewer/audience member understand what is happening or what the person is talking about.

I also found that 'Friends' have a lot of secret hidden messages within the show, this really makes it interesting for the viewer to watch and find these hidden gems. While coming up with my proposal i really wanted to discover more about John Clare. John was born in 1793 and was a very famous poet, he was born as the son of a farm labourer and did not have much money. Many individuals state that Clare is 'the greatest labouring class poet that England has ever produced' since he came from a very poor background. While reading up on his background it was very hard, he had a troubled childhood and was also sent to an asylum where he had written most of his poems. As Live Production - VT Reasearch 'Fashion Fails'

Fashion Fails – Internet Shopping Websites I have actually experiences these issues in the past with ‘Online Shopping’ you can never be sure if what you order is what you will actually get. I have researched a few websites that have this issue and how could we possibly stop them? The first website that has caught my eye is ‘Zaful’ . This online store describes itself as ‘Trendy women’s fashion’ it started off with just bikini sales but developed into clothing also – I have noticed this online store getting more and more attention due to Youtuber sponsorships, Zaful sent Bikinis and clothing for free to popular Youtubers to review them. This is where some of their stuff really came differently to what was show online. Most of their bikinis are VERY small when ordered in a Medium or Small, ‘It would fit a child’ one Youtuber mentioned while reviewing the clothing off the site. As Live Production - First look into Studio Production (workshop)

Today we had a very exciting workshop with Del, it was our first go at working in a real Studio Production atmosphere. We all had a go at different jobs such as Floor Managin, Sound, Directing, VT, Talent etc. We also had a go at playing around in the gallery and seeing what it takes to be a vocal Director. We all had a go and realised that when we go live all of us tone our voices down and really start to focus very strongly on what to say and what shot to play live. I had so much fun during this workshop but found out that most of the jobs are very difficult! Escpecially my own, being a floor manager comes with many different responsibilities. I realised that i had to really nail my 'Floor Manager' hand signals. I also found it difficult to manage the talent, Del told me that i had to be nexto each camera when live so that the talent can look at you and the correct camera.
