Major Project Pre-Production | Simons Feedback

Image
After our first tutorials today I started to think about what I was passionate about and what I wanted to film. I had a one to one meeting with Simon and expressed my interest in doing a documentary based on the Holocaust. He advised me that there have been many documentaries done on that particular subject that it would be challenging for mine to stand out. I started to think deeper into what I actually wanted to do and produce; I feel like my first idea wasn't a good way to go since I didn't have any passion for doing it. When thinking about the pre-production, I still wasn't 100% on if I wanted to go ahead with the Major project pre-production or the professional pre-production; my original ideas were for the professional pre-production, but after changing my mind I felt like the major project pre-production should be the way I go. I thought to myself that I cannot keep changing my ideas, I have to be keen and feel strongly about one idea that I should go ahead with.

Major Project Pre-Production | Production meeting / Items to think about

After giving some thoughts into my idea I thought was a documentary about Auschwitz would be a good fit, a very detailed interesting story. Since I am originally from Poland I would have a lot more access and there wouldn't be a language barrier between anyone. I have always thought to myself specifically since the Fiction Adaptation unit that I could become a great Director/Multi-skilled film maker, I have always filmed and done many projects myself. I feel as I can also do this myself with a small crew. I have to think about these points; Why, what’s the background of my decision. Visual approach and back up the decision. Emotional test. Mind map the elements – personal documentary’s What was his drive? Reflections on modern life

Major Project Pre-Production | The pre-production Package

I am very excited to jump into 3rd year, for this specific unit I have decided to be multiskilled and work on my own. This is probably going to be a challenge but if I give myself the opportunity to reach out and get a crew, I should be able to knock it out of the park. I don't have a specific idea for a package just yet since I'm not sure what is going to work out the best for this unit. Overall I always had an idea to do something personal. I initially for our briefing wanted to do the hypothetical pre-production package but then changed my mind, since I am going to be making this on my own I might as well prepare for the full major project in the new year. I have to get prepared before the greenlight pitch, making sure my idea does get commissioned by Simon. I have to work on a script, branding, marketing, trailer etc. Needing to choose my target audience and research into my chosen topic. I will also need to complete a visual storyboard and a production schedule. As wel
