As Live Production - VT / Graphics / Scripting

VT's

We have started to set ourselves tasks to plan out our 4 VT's that will play during the live production. Because we are slip into 2 groups everyone has their own area to research i am in charge of 'Steal the style' and 'Fashion fails'.

VT's can be used during anytime of the show, they always help to provide more in depth information for our live production. These external content wouldn't be allowed to be show in the studio while we are live. VT's really show a variety of key information for the audience, it can introduce a round or a packge (which is what we are doing)

VT should always have the same approach within a production and genre should always stay the same. We can't have a fashion chat show and show a VT that was filmed in thorpe park? It wouldn't make sense and it would confuse our audience. VT's usually run for less than 2 minutes and depending on the show run 2-4 times during the entire production, for our production it will run 4x times during the 30 minute live show.

Graphics

Simon is in charge of graphics and will be creating our opening/closing titles, he is always creating stings and small bubbles for our VT's. These can serve a purpose and can appear during different points thoughout the production. We are using graphics to show subtitles, stings, titles, stats, prices etc.

All of these have to fit the branding and are formated in the correct resolution. Simon has to remeber to have a clear font and serve the correct purpose. It would be difficult to see puncutation, abbreviation etc because noone can see them.

We need to also make sure that these graphics are not complex, a simple background can work very well because the audience doesn't have to focus on other things but just the graphic.

Scripting

Scripting is the difficult part of the show but the key part of it also. Everyone needs a copy of the script, it is essential to make sure that everyone is running to the correct order.

Katie and Melissa have been focusing and dedicating their time to the script making sure it is written correctly and that we all understand it such as using key words IQ, OQ, Out Cue + Outro etc.

When the script is written it has to be simple and clean making sure we can all read it properly, ad-libbing has the advantage of feeling natural, and can be easily directed in the gallery. Since our show is a fashion chat show a lot of the script is flexible and will be kept as it is. This is a strong advantage to the gallery PA to keep track of time, the floor crew can always listen and adapt to segments slower or quicker.

Del had told us that we have to always have a script on hand and follow it while the show is in production/live.
