Digital News - Filming day 1 [Moonlight Cinema]

Moonlight Cinema

We have finally started filming and it is so exciting, we have so many cool ideas and locations that i am enjoying every minute of it. Our first location was the Moonlight Cinema here in Paddock Wood, the entire team was so nice to us that they even let us stay to watch the movie for FREE! We have a few issues that day due to our correct equipment not being booked out, it was left with someone but i'm assuming it got forgotten about so we have to work with what we got which worked out great anyway, the only major problem was that we did not have any LED lighting so we really had to work with iphone torches and the lighting that was used at the cinema.

We started filming when people started to turn up to watch the movie as the background was lovely and the lighting actually worked out well. When it came to finding a presenter it was also left with someone but also forgotten about, this is where i had to step in. I tried to find someone so hard last minute but no chance so i had to put on big shoes and present the live news part myself! I am not an actor or a performer but i had to learn my line quick and present. We also interviewed a lot of the public that showed up to the screening and they were all lovely and wanted to help us with this project.

This shoot could have been MUCH better but we had to patch up some problems and work with everything we had and make it AMAZING. Hopefully while editing these clips we can brighten the scene and make ME look more presentable, it was very windy.... I feel like Amber and Joni are very good at camera work and they create amazing cinematics. I feel very confident with them being in my group. We all made sure that all the settings are set correctly on all the cameras and that we took caution of all risks at the site. I think we have forgotten to take some key shots that we needed such as a Mid close up of me when interviewing Tom but that can always be worked on, Me Amber and Joni want to make sure that what we filmed and managed to capture that night will end up looking fantastic. I had to make sure that my clip mic was working correctly and listen back to the sound because that was such a crucial part of the entire filming day.

As you can see in this picture Joni is trying to take some amazing cinematics at the location so we have some fantastic fillers, but as you can also see how dark the location is and the only light is at the front of the location where the screen takes place. This is where we usually were to make sure that our interviews were seen on camera, Amber set the camera up to the highest brightens setting also making sure the white balance is perfect. Me and Joni also tried to torch my face up when it came to close ups.

We were at the location from 5:30pm until around 8pm, the team leader was so nice he told us that we are welcome to stay and watch the movie. Joni and Amber loved wearing their Hi Vis jackets, they wanted to make sure we capture a picture of them in it so Ferg could be proud! Joni also had brought her own DLSR to the shoot so she can capture more shots while me and Amber focused on the interviews. We have 2 more shoots to complete one in Maidstone where we will shoot the studio part and one more in Folkestone where we are going to have an amazing time. Callum was supposed to find us a studio to record in and also a presenter but i have found two presenters myself where they could be good potential, me and Amber also thought that it would be great to record the studio live in the escape hub in Maidstone.
